I needed a way to block the view into my laundry room so this is what I came up with.  A few 1"x2", some screws, 9 bamboo mats from the dollar store and the help of my hubby and this is what I got.

Before  (Ignore the mess!)

After

Total cost about $20.00.

Very cool idea - are you going to paint them now - with a watered down paint?  That would be soooo cool!  I have always wanted a folding screen in my house and I still have no place to put one!  I would never have thought up this idea in a zillion years.  Very sharp!

Yes, I am planning on painting them.  Not sure of the color yet.  I am going to wait until I repaint my kitchen and then paint them to go with it.  I like the idea of watered down paint....hmm....maybe a watered down version of the kitchen color.  Thanks

The watered down paint will give it more of a staining color like watercolors.. it would look really pretty. I  can't wait for you to paint your kitchen so I can see what you come up with!!

Great idea.  I love folding screens, but have never really known where I'd put one.  This is just great....

Wow...I'm definitely bookmarking this, so I can come back to it and remember how to make one. I just bought a house and I can think a few places that could use some screens! This looks really great-I hope I can find mats at my dollar store.
