This is my new hat, being modeled by my jar of salsa con queso..

It is my first time designing something/going utterly without a pattern, and it was so much fun!
I made it lacey so I could peek my pigtails through:

And here is a close-up of the pattern:

And now my older sister is demanding one, with a brim, so I need to figure out how I did this... and figure out the brim thing. *tosses spool of wire into yarn bag*

So cute.  I like how you can have your pigtails go through.  Thats the only sad thing about most hats, I can't wear my hair in my favorite hairstyle Tongue

Oooh gotta love a hat that works w/ pigtails! I've made hats for me & my daughter with buttonholes to pull our pigtails through and we love em!

I have so much hair, though, I have to use a crochet hook to pull it through the holes. My hairdresser yells at me *jokingly* that she has to do so much more work on my head than others cause it's baby fine hair, but there's so much, it seems like it's thick hair.
I got bored yesterday during the "snowstorm" out here in Portland, and threaded a black hair wrap ribbon through the bottom row of eyelets. Makes it look more cloche-ey, and stays on so much better when there's no pigtail braces.
