Pic size when posting ATC's-why does it change?

This is something I've noticed when I post.  I scan every one of my posts the same and resize the same before I upload the pics.  Sometimes  they look tiny, sometimes bigger.  I'm definitely NOT a computer savvy person (more like an idiot savant.... ok really just an idiot who gets lucky once in awhile)so was wondering if one of you can tell me why this happens??  Can I do something about it??

I always set mine at 400x2?? pixels.

I think Craftster has a certain size requirement when posting pictures. I had posted pictures of something I swapped last year and when I posted the pictures they were smaller than what they actually were. I think if they are over a certain size they get resized... at least that happened to me a couple of times...  I notice when I post an image, the img tag ends up looking like this: img width=400 height=531... maybe try changing that width and height to be what your image actually is and see if that works?

Krysta is right - Craftster does automatically re-size images for posting. I use a program from redcastle that resizes pretty small for me so my pics go through ok- sometimes almost too big- but I think thats my cropping instead.

Quick question since the topic is around ... I am going to be posting my first pics to craftster in the next couple of days. What is the recommended size ... I saw someone else uses 400 x 2--, more or less. Is that what most of you use for resizing? Obviously, I am not overly computer savvy in this area either~

I think the maximum allowed width is 500 pixels (but I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time )...I usually make the shorter side of my ATC pics 250 pixels wide.

That was me Colorful.  I use a program called PaintShopPro. It measures everything in pixels rather than inches.  The 400 pixels I use is for either the width or height depending on which way the card is made.  The program automaticaly adjusts the other pixel which is usually around 200 something.

Maybe someone will come along that could tell us how many inches that is, lol.

I resize mine to 500 pixels high x 3-something wide.

all I know is that I resize to small (it says fits a 640 x 480 screen whatever that means) EVERYTIME and always upload EXACTLY the same and when I link them to a post some look big and some are so small you can barely see them.  I thought it might have been how many pictures were in the original scan (sometimes more than 1) but it happens with single pics too.  Maybe its just a weird quirk in the windows picture manager, whatever it really bugs me.
