I can't stand keeping my own work on anything art.
for some reason nomatter how much I like it I can't wait to give it away.
everything, except one painting my mother insisted on saving, that I have ever created in the name of art and not function I have destroyed or given away.

Well I am sure you have made many others happy with your sharing. I am the same way about most of my crafts- my husband always comments at Christmas-"you've made thousands of wreaths and centerpieces for everyone else- but we have to go buy one-doesn't make sense!"  I think a lot of us are like that - we create for other- but never just for ourselves. It's sort of sad how we never seem to think our art has true worth when we view it- yet others laud us for it.

I realize this is an old thread, but I had to jump in and bring it back! I have the opposite problem, sort of! I have just finished my alphabet set and can't decide if I can bear to trade any away! Although as I made the entire set, I also made an identical one for my mom and one for my sister! So right here in my little corner of south alabama there are 3 sets of my alphabet atcs! The newer ones I have been making lately don't fit the theme and I would be willing to trade them, I think!, but  I haven't gotten the guts to look for some to trade with!

I have three folders of ATC's- have counted them recently but no idea how many I've got!
One folder though, is my ATC's- where I have tried different techniques and methods and wanted to keep them to show other people- with the occasional card that either hasnt been good enough to trade or I haven't wanted to trade it away as I loved it too much! (doesn't happen that often- although a recent one is framed on my bookcase!)
Get into making some for yourself- its fun and there's sooo much less pressure! You can really play!

I love the idea of ATCs, but have only made one (which I gave away as part of another swap) and would like to make more, so this thread is really interesting to me.  My question is: Is it an Artist Trading Card if you don't trade it?

I have more cards that I've made than others I've traded for. Mostly because I just haven't gotten around to doing more personal trades. I've been doing more organized swaps lately.

I have a few that I will not trade. They just turned out to be something I couldn't part with or some, as boatbird said, that I think they may not be good enough to trade.  Some I made just because I got inspired by something I saw somewhere. It is a lot less pressure to make some for yourself. And you can experiment with new ideas. And who knows, someone may ask you to trade it.  Smiley

It's possible in the future I may decide to trade the others as well, so I would consider them all ATCs.

I can't draw to save my life, so I use rubber stamps to make most of my atc's. I tend to make them in batches of at least 20 and I always keep one for myself.  Smiley

WOW, this IS an old thread but a great one.

Patti, have you gotten more done for your exhibits?

I personally have stopped trading because I runneth over in ATCs.  I made a suggestion back in Jan 07 on this thread:

Maybe we'll do a swap like "I'll make you an ATC but you better not make me one"  [/quote]

I still think it's a great idea!!  However, I treasure each of my pieces of art made by others. I miss the thrill of getting mail other than bills too, lol.

Well Hello Miss T!! So glad to hear from you! Did you see I changed my user name?? I am glad I finally did it so I can stop confusing eveybody trying to remember pjmclnj- too hard!! As for the ATC's- the exhibit went well- small turn out- but a small town so I didn't expect a big one. I am hoping after my trip in June to the other sites convention I will get motivated to try another one.  In the meantime- I just keep on slopping ink and glue on paper and see where it takes me!

Thank you precious girl for the name change, lol.

Definitely do it again. Small towns need motivation too.  I figure if I can make 1 new friend a year I'm good.  If I make 1 new friend a month, I'm blessed.
