Pressies for boyfriend's family...

Ya'll did such a great job helping me figure out what to give my boyf (who's generally impossible to shop for) I thought I'd run this dilemma by you.

I'm thinking I could do some easy and cheap and nice bath salts for the women and that would work really well and definitely be closer to budget. But what for the guys?? I was thinking cider or cocoa mix (even found one for diabetics) but my boyf said they really don't drink hot drinks, not that kind of family (whatever that means). So maybe for the brotherinlaw (who loves food!!) I could make a brownie mix or something (they dont' have any allergies in their house). He'd dig that and it would be easy/cheap enough.
But what for dad??

My boyfriend's dad:
I've met the parent's a few times, they aren't superthrilled with me (esp the mom) but like me nonetheless (you know how parents can be, stealing their boy away and what not). Anyway, I don't know a ton about them. I do know that both are devout baptists (i think)
Dad:  loves garage sales and the like, total pack rat, has been involved with the boy scouts for a long time but I think he's ending that soon, he's diabetic


Also his  brother-in-law (who probably likes me much better than the parents ):
they've just bought a new house so I could do maybe a cross-stitch or something for their home (bless this home and the family who lives here, kind of thing), they both are youth ministers at their church

Brother in law: works as a parole officer for kids in the area

yeah, I don't know the family well, but they seem conservative and not too crafty (except his grandma quilts)(nor are they into decorating with crafts particularly).


Okay any ideas for any of them are welcome...

hmmm...  I'm going through similar planning at the moment.

do you know if his parents are into anything specific?  like, my boy's mom loves flamingos, so I'm going to embroider some hand towels, and they're big drinkers (not in a bad way!), so I'm making some wine glass charms.

as for the boyfriend's dad...  according to my boy, you can bake with splecda and it turns out pretty well, so how about some wonderful sugar free brownies?  but do a test batch just to make sure.

Thanks kategirl. I think I have it worked out. I'm going to make some small jordys (bags) for the girls (maybe put a jar of bath salts in). I am doing either hot cocoa or brownies (whichever turns out well) with no milk and no sugar for his dad, and regular ones for his brotherinlaw.

Good luck with your gifts. The flamingo embrodiery sounds nice!

oh you could do something with the boyscout thingy if you sow you could make something with patchs,like a wallet with the patch on the front or if they have a symbol you could needle on something for him.

I've been making snowmen out of the leftober glass fishbowl/ivybowl things from my wedding (and my sister's) anywhoo - they make great containers for gifts - especially food gifts b/c you can fill them with tea bags, cocoa mix, coffee, or even bath salts, incense, potpourri.......
