Came in 3rd place in ATC Contest!

Hello ladies,

I was just too excited about this and had to share it with all you ATC lovers!

Back in the August issue of "Get Creative" magazine, they held an ATC cometition where you had to use at least 2 rub-on elements and at least 1 metal item on your card. At the time, I was in 3 ATC swaps here on Craftster and decided why not enter while I had heaps of supplies everywhere 

I was at JoAnns last night and was on my way to the checkout. I happened to pick up the recent copy of "Get Creative" (Jan/Feb 2007) and was leafing through it. Lo and behold on page 60 it says, "And the Winner Is..." and there's a picture of my ATC for 3rd place! They never contacted me or anything so it was a complete surprise!

The winner got a 1 year subscription to the magazine. I'm not aware that I won anything for 3rd place, but it was enough for me just to be chosen

I will post a photo of my card later this afternoon when I get home from work.

Okay, here's a picture of my ATC. Its called, "Morning".

The rub on elements are the butterfly (under an acetate sticker) and the flower in the lower left...which is two-layered: the bottom is on the card and the top layer is held on by a tiny brad so its able to "spin". The metal element I used was the paperclip on the bottom that holds the "rise" portion of the card, which is dtachable.

I just have to say this: My mom picked up that magazine this weekend (we've never seen it in town before) and I was leafing through it this weekend and seen the ATCs... and I thought yours was really nice!! How weird is that.

So...I didn't bother this time and thought I would just hold off until I could share it with you gals

Maybe she assumed you were lying.    People in retail get used to hearing all kinds of wacky stories from people. 
I, however, decided to buy a copy of CRAFT when I was swapping with you and I found out you were in it.  I look at it, and I think, "I 'know' her!"  Ha. 

I think it would be awfully difficult to contain my surprise, if nothing else, if I'd seen my own work in a magazine unexpectedly.

When I told the lady about being CRAFT, I opened the page and pointed to my tote...I don't think if I would have walked in there and said I designed the Joanns logo would she have been any more impressed. She reminded me a lot of the guy in the Clear Eyes commercials! Monotone, exressionless and bland

That's a pretty card, Modus!  I agree that you should at least get the issue with your card in it free (even if they had 10 top places, it wouldn't cost them much to do it).  Especially since it looks like they're going to sell at least a dozen extra copies just because your card was in there. 

I've purchased Threads magazine several times because someone I "know" from online wrote an article in it.  If only my neighbors were as cool as the people I know online.
