So a few weeks ago I'd found this fantastic lobster print fabric and bought some with the intention of doing something creative and crafty with it in a purse design.  I ended up making a tote that I absolutely hated ... it didn't turn out how I'd imagined and wanted it to.  (the post is here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=137812.0) ...

Christmas came and I got a brand new, real sewing machine (I've been using a little simple $30 plastic portable machine up until then, so this was a HUGE deal).  I'm doing a little personal swap with mebsmommy but didn't want to have her purse be the very first thing I made with the new machine since I wasn't 100% comfortable with it yet and wanted to be sure I knew what I was doing first so I didn't possibly mess up on her item.  So I decided to have another go at the lobster fabric and make myself a purse that I designed myself.  I think I'll add inner pockets to the design soon, now that life is 1986938493487947x easier with a real sewing machine.  (I never knew how crappy my portable was until I had something to compare it to.)

Anyway, here is my new lobster purse... it's quite a bit different than the original vision that inspired my previous post, but I love this purse more than the 'tote' I ended up with on my first try.

Thanks for looking!  And happy new year to all you craftsters out there Smiley

Ohhhhh, how sweet of you to practice!  Of course, based on all of the super cute stuff you have crafted you certainly didn't need to.  And look at you with that matching zipper!!!!!  I like the base fabric you used........it really sets of your cute lobster claws.

Thanks everyone!  Cheesy  mebsmommy I can't wait to get to work on your purse now... I'm not sure the bf is ever going to get me away from my new machine, lol Smiley

Planning out the polar bear face seems to be my biggest challenge.  I hope it looks polar bear-ish enough!

awwe thanks, TrashedClothing! Cheesy  <3

Mebsmommy, I'm all done with your purse!  The head wasn't nearly as tough to design as I thought.  I'm really proud!  I don't know if you want me to post it on here until after you get it or not (even though you know what you're getting, roughly) so I'll hold off for now, but I think you're going to like it! from a store here in Canada (that appears to only be in western Canada?) called Fabricland Shocked  Their site is http://fabricland.ca/ ... not to be confused with fabricland.com, which appears to be something in New Jersey (not sure if they're the same place or not, though)

Thanks for your kind comments! Smiley
