Craft (or just cool) stores in Utah

well, mostly within the three valleys: Ogden, Orem, and Salt Lake.

Mine would be Zims on 47th and stateish in SLC, and the Piece Goods that was just closed down on 54th s. and 40thish slc. I went to Piece goods right before it closed... so sad But have yet to go to Zims.

Anyone know of any thrift stores in SL that are not Deseret Industeries? I am a cheapy and they keep raising thier prices!

It sounds like a scrap book store. There seem to be millions of those around Utah. Must be a Church sanctioned craft ;p For cool stuff, i found a Japanese store at the Not ZCMI downtown mall. They have the paper stars paper, and the awesomest stuffed Japanese toys. They had this cool chest of drawers with 20 or so little drawers. I told my hubby that I wanted it for my crafts;p Then we looked at the price $9**.** Ouch! Maybe when I win the lotto ... from Idaho ;p

I also get a kick out of Cabin Fever in Crossroads Plaza (a.k.a. the NOT ZCMI downtown mall  )

As for thrift stores, there are a few Salvation Army stores, and Thrift Town stores.  Also, if you are in the Downtown area quite a bit I would hit Grunts & Postures 779 E 300 South. The prices used to be kind of all over the map. Sometimes you could find cool stuff for a great deal, but sometimes things were a little pricey. I haven't been there in quite a while, though.  There also is a place called Decades on State St. between 600 and 700 So. that has some really cool clothes.  I don't know what kind of crafting you do, but there might be a really good chance to find some things to reconstruct in either of those places.

Grunts and Postures is awesome! Another non-D.I. place is Savers...I love them...they have a lot of interesting stuff, although their prices have gone up a bit in the past year. There's also a Zim's downtown that is fun to visit.

Are there any fabric stores you guys could recommend?  JoAnn's and Hancocks are just not cutting it for me.  I am especially looking for small-scale quirky prints, a la Munki Munki.

Piecegoods was so rad! They could have made more money and stayed in business longer if they would have advertised. I mean they were open FOREVER but still.

Pibs Exchange is also a "thrift" type of store Buy/Sell/Trade type shit but a bit overpriced.

I used to work at Piece Goods when I lived in Rexburg, Idaho… wanna hear the best part?? It is still open. Wooo Hoooo! There is a craft sale place in front (like quilted bear) now, but they have all of the yards and yards of avocado green ball fringe and fuscia tricot still lingering in the back. I visit Idaho about once a year and I stock up. Do we need to organize a field trip?? It is only 3 hours from SLC J
