This is the result of what happened when I decided to create a scarf inspired by two of my favorite brands....

The inspiration:

The Rapunzel scarf thread...

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=67366.0

The Rope Wrap Scarf by Free People

http://www.freepeople.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/products.detail/productID/b44bb98f-5750-48fc-94b9-5fcc3f3dbfb2/categoryID/5109874e-2ee4-473e-8ddd-047834868237

The result....

Unfortunately, you cannot really tell the texture of the scarf in the photos... but there it is... It's made by the most beautiful yarn  (Lang Yarns, Pappete) my aunt gave me as a present ... I had been killing myself for months wondering what to do with it and I'm really happy with how this feels and looks in person....

any comments?

Wow, I think that looks really stylish and pretty! I could definitely see it being sold on Anthropologie for a lot...
I think the gold is a very nice touch...

That is a great scarf! I too like your better than the freepeople version. Can you share some details about the construction of the scarf?

The color is grand and the finishing at the ends is too!

Thank you!  Cheesy

I also thought the free people scarf was waaaay overpriced... over 200 dollars for a piece of cloth wraped at the ends with some rope!? ....

Onecraftybitch... it was actually very very simple, it's only a scarf made in stockingnette with really long fringes braided and some gold thread wraped at the end of the braids... the yarn itself basically takes all the credit.... It's very textured and exotic... I think it definitely needs to be made with an interesting yarn, otherwise it would look a bit boring i think....  thanks for all the nice comments!  Wink

Thanks for the details on the scarf. The yarn looks so soft and wonderfully textured. I'm going to have to look into that yarn!

Thanks!
