I wouldn't mind joining up! I just cast on for a plain pair of socks with some self-patterning yarn I bought just before the holidays, so that works perfectly for my first pair. Can't wait to blow through some of the  sock yarn I've got hanging around!

Has anyone gotten a good start on their socks? I'm finishing a pair I started around Christmas... makes me feel a bit like a cheater There are photos on my blog if anyone's interested (link in signature).

I'll take holiday started socks for the first month.  But you won't be able to cheat next month 'cos I'm not going to post the pattern until February 1st.

In! ME!!! YEA! I have one sock done that was begun this month.............m y BF really likes handmade socks, he got his first pair in his stocking this year so................y ou got it. Pics as soon as I can, I have tons of sock yarn.  Let's see how we do!

I'm so excited!  I finally finished balling up my first skein last night (stupid yarn got all tangled because stupid es didn't wrap it around her feet when unwinding the skein! )  Anyway, I cast on this morning on my train ride into work, and have done two rows!  It's really wierd using five dpns - normally I just use four - but I'm loving that bamboo slows me down for these, otherwise I think it would be a big mess!

I'll see how much I get done by Saturday and then post an in progress pic!

You need to make yourself one of these super duper easy to make swifts. Couple of dollars worth of materials and 15 minutes to an hour of work (depending on if you have power tools but totally doable without them).

Oh, I am SO in.  I got a TON of sock yarn recently, and this is a good way to get me to knit it all.  I'm currently working on Interweave Knits's "Bells & Whistles" socks from their holiday issue, so those'll be my January pair.  The pattern looks so gorgeous in a forest green--I'll try to post a pic of my progress soon.
