monkichee, you're following the s-n'-b saga regarding Knit NY too?  Wink I relocated (work as well as home) to queens, so I haven't been to s-n-b since the last java and jazz meeting, and I think I'm going to wait until either there's a) a consensus on where to meet or b) warmer weather. Even though I do want to check out Knit NY... but maybe I'll do that on my own time.  I love smiley's, and if you can make it to one of their hotel sales, I highly reccommend it. Higher grade yarns than the store, and so cheap by-the-bag! I should never buy yarn again I have so much lying around my apartment!

LOL i'm still trying to bring down my stash from last year's Smiley's hotel sale!  definitely a great way to stock up if you have a ton of friends having babies or you have sweater patterns that you're shopping for.  you need to go early, though, because they tend to sell out of the really great yarn fast.  downside to that is BEWARE... don't be a compulsive shopper!!!  unless you have a lot of people to knit for, of course.   Grin

and bring either checks or cash.  no cc allowed!

there's a Crochet Meetup on the first Tuesday of the month at 7p.m. This month it's being held in Park Slope, at Gorilla Cafe on 5th Ave & Park Pl.  Go to crochet.meetup.com for more info or to rsvp (or just show up on tuesday).

I also have gone to the Brooklyn Stitch & Bitch (mainly knitters) and crochet.  We're all yarn geeks, nobody cares what you work on.  It's on Mondays 7-9 at the Flying Saucer Cafe on Atlantic Ave between Nevins & 3rd Ave.

I've seen these in Michaels and JoAnn's which are pretty big chain stores. Are there any around you? (I'm not from that area) Perhaps you should call first just to check on price and how many  they have, etc.
