I stayed up all night last night completing this sweater for my best friend's baby shower this morning!  It was knit on size 5 needles, so not terribly small, but not a fast project for me, either.  It's 100% mercerized cotton, Omega Sinfonia, which I have really enjoyed crocheting, but knitting cotton at top speed about killed me.  It is my own design, and I basically made it up on the fly, although I did keep pattern notes.  The baby's gender is going to be a surprise, so I tried to make a design that was unisex. It has influences from Chinese men's jackets, with a mandarin collar worked in seed stitch so it stands up (you can sort of see it in the second pick, if you know you're looking at a collar with rounded edges and a bit of a gap at the button placket), and I carried the stitch pattern into the sleeves so that it didn't look too out of place on the collar.  I thought about doing the bottom in seed stitch, too, but I settled on the rolled hem because I think it gives it a bit of a rustic look.  I also adore the buttons, which say "small potatoes".

Thanks. Cheesy  The pick actually shows more clearly some of my more obvious mistakes, but I blame insomnia-befuddled brain and the resulting loss of fine motor control for the clumsily picked up stitches on the front color and the lumpy seams.  Sill, all things considered, I have to admit I was pleased with the final result.

I could stay up for a month straight and still not make this cutie!  I love the color and the buttons are adorable.  It's going to be one of the sweaters that the baby wears & wears and then ends up in a hope chest years later to pass on to the baby's baby. Smiley

Aw, thanks!  Plus, as I told my friend, if the thing ever falls apart, she's got instant washclothes.  Cheesy  In all honesty, she's been my best friend since 1st grade, and her little baby bean is going to be spoiled rotton with Auntie Lothruin originals.  Smiley

Wow...what a concept! I use my Sinfonia yarn in my i-cord maker.  I never 'thunk' to make something wearable out of it.  Good job!!!

Life isn't complete 'til you crochet a uterus for a friend.  Just make sure your fallopian tubes point down and not up! No one needs to lose an eye this way! Wink
