GO, GRANNY, GO! | Grey plaid pinafore dress

So at the moment I've got this thing about librarians. I don't know what it is. Well actually I do - I've been thinking about stereotypical images of librarians, especially British ones. I then wrote a short story about a (female, British) librarian who goes crazy, which my grandfather then followed up with his OWN story about a (male, Polish) librarian who goes crazy. Hahahahahahaha (this story is hilarious, you wouldn't know. Sorry. Inside joke.)

I made this dress from a pattern (can't remember which unfortunately) and the only modification I made was to make it 7 inches shorter than the shortest length. The fabric is a wool blend and woven in Prince of Wales check. Personally I LOVE the dress, I've been wanting to make a pinafore dress ever since I tried one on in H&M and the cut was so awful and fabric SO itchy that I vowed to make my own. And hence, the librarian dress was born.

Thats adorable I love it! I have been seeing that style everywhere. You should pick yourself up a librarian action figure they sell them at the library I go to they are pretty funny.

Yes I think so. (Wow, well spotted!) I only paid £2.50 for mine (instead of £10) because I ordered through school.

Thank you! The fabric is just from a local fabric shop, it was in the 'suiting' section.

I remembered the other alteration I did - I cut the front bodice piece on the bias so that the square pattern turned the other way round. (as you can clearly see.) I also omitted the pockets.

That looks almost exactly the same as this dress I saw AGES ago at Saks Fifth Avenue.
I have no idea who its by, but I remember thinking it was cool.
