Please no "You killed bambi" comments.

For those of you who like venison, here's a burger recipe that I tried last night. I found a recipe online but didn't quite like all the ingredients so I switched some ingredients for other things came up with this:

Ingredients:
1 lb. ground venison
2/3 a cup of soft breadcrumbs OR 1 burger bun crumbled
1 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 c. evaporated milk
2 tsp. yellow mustard
2 tsp. parmesan cheese
3 tbsp. ketchup
1 egg
salt & pepper to taste

Combine all ingredients; shape into patties.  Broil, pan fry, or grill according to your preference. Top with your favorite burger fixins.

I cooked these on my George Foreman Grill for about 8 minutes. They tasted fabulous and smelled absolutely mouthwatering while they cooked.

These sound delicious.  My husband hunts and we eat a lot of venison.  Sometimes we have trouble with the meat being crumbly so we like to wrap our venison burgers with bacon.  Do you have that problem?

Actually they held together really well. The recipe I based it all on called for dry breadcrumbs, and it didn't have egg as an ingredient. I had never made venison burgers before, but I did know that the ground venison is lean and tends to get crumbly, so I used soft breadcrumbs instead and added the egg. The mixed ingredients didn't form as "solid" a patty as you might get with ground beef, but they didn't crumble....and they were awesome.

Hope you have fun with the recipe!

These sound awesome.  I usually just stick with substituting vension for beef in things like spaghetti sauce and stew, etc.  I will DEFINITELY have to try this recipe!  Thanks Smiley

What a great idea.  I've always liked venison, but I've never prepared it myself, and I hadn't thought of making venison burgers.

The deer in my backyard had better look out.   Tongue  (I don't hunt, but I've been annoyed with the local deer population ever since they ate my roses a few years back.)
