Where my kids attend high school, they are the Rattlers and their school colors are blue and black.  A couple of months ago, I looked everywhere for a pattern for a rattlesnake without luck so I had to create my own diamondback rattler!  (Now at www.lionbrandyarn.c om there is a free knitting pattern for a diamondback rattler which could easily be converted to crochet!)

This was my first time crocheting with more than 1 color at a time and I am quite happy with how this turned out!

The first 3 diamonds are all the same size, although the picture makes it look differently.  The diamonds then get smaller as they reach the tail.

Thanks for looking!

Crocheting is like prostitution.  First you do it for love, and then for a few close friends, and then for money.  Maybe that is why they call us Hookers?

Thanks!  Of course, it looks even better in person and it is very soft.  I made it with Caron Simply Soft.

Very cool! I would love to wear a scarf like that to school! I'd have to make it in "actual colors" though, so I can get away with wearing it (I'm a science teacher).

I don't know if I'm ready to try anything that complicated-looking, though (I don't even know what intarsia means!!  Grin ).

Little boys everywhere would want one...as would my 5 year old daughter...she adores snakes, monsters, dragons, frogs, dinosaurs, and trucks.
You did a wonderful job on that snake, you have a lucky son.

This is great! There are a few knitters doing a snake scarf along, but after seeing yours, I'd say this is one of those things that works better than crochet. I might try to emulate yours.

Wow! Thanks everyone for your compliments!

I made this scarf at the request of my 14 y/o DAUGHTER so she could wear her school mascot and school colors with pride, as well as be the envy of her classmates!
