Hey there everyone!!

Long time no see...

Well.. I finally made a Calvin doll to match the Hobbes doll I made for my Hubby's Birthday last April. Our Hobbes doll has been allllllll alone; sitting on top of our dvd bookcase for a whole year, so I thought he might be happy with his lil' buddy Calvin at his side. So I went to my local Joann's Fabric/Craft Store and bought all the fabric I needed (luckily they had flesh colored Polar fleece) It took me about 2 weeks to make Calvin, and let me tell ya... he was a LOT easier to make than the Hobbes doll was. Hobbes took me a few months to make, mostly because he was the *first* ever stuffed animal creation I ever made.

Anyway, after I finished the Calvin doll, I gave him to my Hubby Ray-Ray as one of his Christmas gifts, so now he owns a complete set of Calvin & Hobbes dolls. Yes they are home-made looking, and maybe slightly crooked in some areas, but I think those little imperfections make them unique, and maybe even better than if they had been mass produced in a toy factory. The creator of Calvin & Hobbes will NOT allow ANY merchandise of his characters to be made, so this is the reason I had to hand make these dolls. The only good part about that is, my Hubby can say he has the ONLY set of Calvin & Hobbes dolls ever made.

Now for the photos.....Hope ya guys like 'em!!   Wink

*UPDATE*
(5/16/07)

I made another Hobbes doll (stuffed version) for my Hubby, but he didn't like the way it came out, so I put it up for sale online and guess who bought it? The creator of the 'Power Puff Girls' and 'Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends' (Craig McCracken) He payed me $99.25 for the Hobbes doll (that my Hubby had stuffed in a bag), as soon as he payed for it, I fixed it up a bit, and look at it now! My Hubby didn't really want to let it go after I fixed Hobbes up, but at the same time he was soooo excited that Craig McCracken OWNS his old Hobbes doll. My Hubby is a fan of Mr. McCrackens cartoons. I had no clue who he was when he bought it from me. Now I'm pretty excited myself! hehe!

I was sure to sew my tag into Hobbes butt before I gave it to him..  Here's a photo of all 3 dolls. The one on the left was sold to Mr. McCracken, and the other 2 Calvin & "alive Hobbes" are still part of me and Husbands *personal* collection. What do ya think??

DOES THIS ROCK??

Waaaay cool, especially for a first try in the world of plushies!

As far as one can see from such distance, it's also a very clean work, nice stitching, neat finish. Keep it up and let us see some more coming up!

oh thank you everyone! Yes Hobbes was my first plushie, then Bloo from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, then a few others and then I made Calvin. Now I'm thinking up new ideas for more plushies. I can't stop now! hehe! -Mia
