I just made a self portrait stamp Smiley I carved it from an eraser using linoleum tools.

The pic I used as a reference is a self portrait which I printed out, drew outlines in pencil on the pic, turned it upside down on the eraser and drew all over the back with the pencil so the lines transfered onto the eraser. Very faintly, but still. This is the third stamp I've carved; scroll down to see the others.

the first stamp I made (the second is the tiny envelope in the picture above):

the pic I based the stamp on:

UPDATE:

Bird stamp which I've also carved, same size as portrait stamp:

Nice work!

How soft are the erasers that you carve into?

Thanks!!
The photo I posted is quite low in contrast, if you can't see the resemblance...

Crumpet: The erasers were quite soft and feel a lot like plastic.

That's awesome. I figured you had used photoshop to make the picture black-and-white (like you would for a stencil?) when I first saw it.

Awesome!

how long did it take you to make each one from start to finish?

you know how you always see artists drawing/painting portraits/caricatures in touristy areas?  someone should make rubber stamps on the street! i would so get one!

Thanks!!

They took around 1,5 hours to make all in all. I'm updating this thread in a minute with a bird stamp I made as well! Smiley
