This is my first time posting on the site, but I've been watching the boards for awhile now and absolutely love all of the creative projects I've seen!

I got the idea to make this quilt for my boyfriend from the Mario 1-up blanket I saw here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=132292.0
It's just a work in progress right now. I got tired of cutting out squares so I decided to at least start piecing together the goomba squares. I still have to cut out the blue squares for the background and attatch them, but I'll post more pictures when I'm finished.

It's going to be about 6'x6' whenever I'm done. The squares will each be 4" after being sewn.

UPDATE: Well, I finished the quilt on Friday (Jan. 5, 2007), but my boyfriend broke up with me yesterday (Saturday) so yeah... that really sucks, but the quilt looks cute Smiley or at least I think so lol. I think I'm probably still going to give it to him for his birthday in March b/c we decided to stay friends (the break-up wasn't bad, he's just not feeling it anymore), so we'll see. I may end up just keeping it for myself though. My roommate freaked out when I told her... just last week she was telling me that I had to be the best girlfriend ever for making this for him... so much for that lol. Anyway, here are the completed pictures:

back:

The back is pretty plain, but I think I like it that way. I might add more quilting to it later... It's just mainly quilted to the top layer before I added the back b/c I didn't really want anything on the back. I hope yall like it!

Looks great!  Is it going to be in that shaper, of a Goomba?  That would be cool.  Be sure to post again when it's completed!

I adore the goomba. Smiley He's my absolute favorite in the Mario World. (Ok, him and Toadette from Mario Party. lol) It looks amazing so far, I can't wait to see it all done.

I also feel special that I inspired someone. Woo!  Grin Grin Grin

Thanks so much, everyone Smiley It's getting closer. I didn't have time to work on it today, but I added the blue squares to it yesterday and started sewing the rows together.

Oh & the1inpinkshoes, you should feel very special!

That quilt is absurdly cool- I love it! I don't know if you're a knitter or not, but there's the knitters urban ledgend that you should NEVER knit a sweater for a man unless you're engaged or the two of you will break up. I wonder if the same applies to quilting?!

Thanks Smiley

I've never actually heard of that urban myth, but it could very well be true for quilters as well lol. In the back of my mind when I was making it I kept hoping I wasn't jinxing myself since i was making it kinda far in advance... oh well. Next time I'll know better Wink
