Hey guys!

Finally, I've also become a member of this great community Smiley Some might know me from LiveJournal...
I <3 to do handcrafts! But -unfortunately- I don't have any friend who shares this passion Sad

So come on, where are other german craft-lovers?

Hallo,

This is my first post!

I am American and live in the Chicago area right now, but spent 5.5 years in Germany (Muenster/Wf., Freiburg i. Br. and Mainz) and a year in Austria (Kaernten - it's beautiful! Took me a while to understand people, though!)

I have 2 kids - the older one was born in Mainz (a Meenzer Maedsche) - and work as a freelance German>English translator. Crafting is my hobby - mainly beading and decoupage right now, but I dabble in a lot of things. It helps me get "out of my head" after a long day alone in front of the computer.

When I lived in Germany, many people were into "Seidenmalerei" - that was a couple of years ago! What are the popular crafts now?

I really have a taste for a Laugenbroetchen or a piece of Streuselkuchen and a coffee. Mmmmm, thinking of Gruene Sosse - anyone from Frankfurt?

You guys are making me "home"sick for Germany!

Yeah "Seidenmalerei" was a couple of years ago. I think 2 or more years ago "Window color" was very popular and now it is "Serviettentechnik" and "Lampen aus Lichterketten" (don't know how to translate it Wink )
