I made one of the Fat Bottom purses and just machine-sewed the lining on. It didn't look bad to me, but then I could be doing things the difficult way. Check it out here.

I usually stitch up the lining on the machine (or by hand, sometimes), adding a pocket, too, then I sit the lining in the bag and pin it. Then, I overstitch, by hand, all along the top--usually about a half inch below the top of the inside of the purse. I tack the bottom in the corners to the bottom of the purse. It's worked out well, this way, thus far Smiley

Thanks everyone! I may try decarillon's method...I am not a fan of hand sewing and would love to whip it up on my machine but just done think that will work well with the bobbles. I appreciate the help!

aztecr3ina--I love that bag, the colors look great! I can't see any stiching on the outside from attaching the lining either!

OK, sorry this took so long. This is how I attach my lining. Of course I usually use my yarn needle and fabric. lol. Unfortunately I forgot to take pics 2 days in a row, so your demonstration involves yarn and a piece of paper with holes punched in it. I've done several bags this way and haven't had any problem with the lining coming loose. You can double the yarn if you want also. i like the way it sits along the upper edge over the top where your bag and lining meet. Just remember to space your stitches evenly. Contrasting colors are great too, depending on what you like. So here goes.

Step 1. Attach your yarn. I usually do this through the fold in the fabric because then you can't see the loose end and I also usually start at a corner.

step 2.   Take your yarn through both the bag and the lining.

Step 3. bring your yarn under the part that you just put through the bag. (don't know if that explains it correctly, but you can see what i mean in the pic.)

Step 4.
Spacing your stitches evenly repeat from step 2. When you finish, attach your yarn to the spot you started and weave in the end.

End result looks something like this, except with tighter stitches (oh, and an actual bag. lol. It ends up looking very nice.

Here's the lining of a messenger bag that I did this way. I used the same color as the bag so you really only notice it if your looking for it. I know there's probably a name for this stitch. My mom showed it to me when I was really little. I just don't remember what it's called.  I like the way it  works though. hope this helps.

I have seen many crochet bags, tiny zipper pouches, and clutches that are lined with fabric.   How do you sew the lining in?Huh  I know how to sew, but I didn't know if you would hand sew the lining in or do it with a machine.

The few linings I've done have been hand-sewn in, because I don't have a machine, and would probably stitch my finger to my project if I did.  I've heard of the linings being done either way.  HTH Smiley
