I crocheted my very first sock tonight--on my birthday no less! I'm SO excited to share!   So far it's just the one... thus the singles sock hop.

I used this pattern to close up the heel, but the rest was just winged. Comments appreciated!

Thanks! I used the two colors of baby yarn that I had around. Bernat Softee Baby. It's acrylic, but it's soft and sort of a thinner weight.

I meant to mention before that I made the last round on the cuff too tight. It's a bit of a struggle to get it over my heel. Next time, I'll know! As soon as I can, I'm making rainbow socks! Whee!

First, thank you!   Well, it's mostly done like the pattern link, but since I winged it I didn't count stitches or anything. And I sized it exactly for my foot (which is very narrow), except the part I messed up around the ankle...

I suggest starting with the pattern in the link and every 3-4 rows trying it on--the same foot each time. And add increases when you think you need them--one at the beginning and one at the end of a round, unless you need the sock to rapidly get bigger. That's what I did, because I knew I probably wouldn't need as many as most people with a 'normal' width.

Wow! I've been intimidated by socks ever since I tried to knit one and failed horribly. This looks so nice I may have to try to crochet a pair, myself! And thanks for the pattern link!
