I made a vase and a bowl using only strips of old sheets and my fingers (no needles). I didn't think they would be able to hold up as well as they actually did. I even filled the bowl with tomatoes once to take pictures.  Cheesy The photos with the tomatoes didn't turn out that well, but the bowl was still standing, so it is pretty sturdy.

I am a beginner crocheter and can only crochet freehand (must learn to read patterns), but please tell me what you think. I need input on what I make and I need to learn more.  Smiley

Wow, those are really neat, you crocheted them with your fingers?
Do you have a glass inside the vase?
I can see so many possibilities for the bowl! Great job!

Thank you for your nice comments.  Cheesy

Yes, I did crochet them with my fingers. I had a vague memory of crocheting with my fingers as a kid, and apparently it still works.  Cheesy

No, there's nothing inside the vase, but I guess that would be a good idea, so that you can keep flowers in it. Maybe I could fit a small glass down the vase now, or you could just tape a small plastic bag with water around a flower and stick it in.

You crocheted with your fingers??  I've never even heard of that!

They both look good - my suggestion for the bowl, that may make it more sturdy, would be to make the bottom flat rather than with a pedestal.

Well yes, but it is quite sturdy already though.

Thank you all for your comments!  Cheesy
