Hee! My sister just texted me from Old Navy, where she got stopped by a salesgirl on suspicion of stealing a scarf. The scarf she was wearing when she entered the store. The Clapotis I knit her Christmas.

I could take it as an insult, like my clap is so generic that such a store is selling it... but I'll take it as a compliment to my skills and the mass appeal of the pattern.

uhm, you should contact Knitty as well as the designer, to have them look into that

Sorry I've been gone so long. Am trying to get back on the boards. Body's thrown me for a few loops these past months and am still learning to adjust. Thanks for your patience.

Oh no, I didn't mean they were actually selling clapotis! Sorry, I was being sarcastic. I have no idea if they're selling anything that looks remotely like it. The salesgirl was just giving my sister a hard time over the (apparently machine-made-looking) clap that I knit her. It's the mean, suspicious, you-look-like-a-shoplifter version of "I can't believe you made that!"

wow, i work part time at an old navy in chicago and i have not seen a scarf that looks like the clapotis. ive knitted a clapotis too. obviously, the worker knows nothing about knitting. maybe the dropped stitches looked kind of like ribbing to her.

she also handled the situation incorrectly. she is suppose to tell the manager if she has suspicion of theft. the manager, i hope, should know right away that the scarf is not from old navy.

and besides, the clapotis is waaay nicer than any of the scarves ive seen at old navy, except maybe the fair isle ones. im sorry she did that to something you handmade, which put in a lot of love and effort into that gift.
