Those look great! I tried this with an old 45 but it didn't turn out so well.

K-ritter, great idea to use epoxy! I never would have thought of that! Can I just pick it up at any home improvement store?

Where do you guys get your records? Huh

I want to try!

I bought mine at savers (I think...) otherwise most thrift stores have them.  I would also check garage sales this kind of year, you could find some pretty good deals.

You can always find them at the Salvation Army.  The one nearest me has a whole bin table with the books...

These bowls are great and can be decorated in many ways. Just keep one thing in mind - these records are plastic and the fume's released during the heating/melting process are toxic - so be sure to remove animals from the area and use ventilation!

i just saw in a magazine (for a crazy price) coasters made out of the center of records it looks like they just cut around the middle.

I couldn't think of what would safely cut a record though or where to ask except maybe here......

It is called a hole saw - it is a tube (like an open tuna fish can with teeth) that attaches to a drill motor.  This book has the instructions (I checked it out of my local library)

You know, I've seen these around since the dawn of time, and never really was that excited by them.  I have PLENTY of containers.

BUT not enough flower pots.  I think a record bowl would be GREAT as a flower pot, and even has a built in drain.

I think I might try it.  I've picked up some really unloved records from thrift stores here and there.  hella scratched.

i close with a plea: please make sure your records aren't worth anything.  I'd hate to see a melted kraftwerk record!  I think it would break my heart.

I have a couple of these to keep keys ect instead of constantly loosing them, but I can't wait to hear about the bowls as flower pots. That would look awsome!
