Hi Everyone,

These are two tea towels I recently completed.  The teapot and cup was done with 3 strand and the cupcake six.  I was determined not to satin stitch the cherry and worked out a way to "weave" the threads...I should have taken a picture of the back because there were no long threads this way-which is more suitable for working tea towels!  Many thanks to sewasabi for her swirl inspiration - I did my own version in "buttercream"!

Enjoy,
Erin

Aww!  I love the buttercream swirls!  Great job.

Your teapot set is lovely too.   Smiley

I love the colors you chose.  I'm doing the cupcake on a tea towel too and don't want to satin stitch.  I don't think I do it right.  It never looks good. I may have to copy you...  do you mind?  hehe

Thanks Everyone!  Copy away the cross hatching is fun.

I wanted to mention that my mom told me that 6 strand embroidery is not as durable as using few strands...this made sense to me but I can't resist the look but I'm thinking "working" tea towels might not be the ideal place for it though.

I can't speak from experience because my embroideried tea towels don't get much abuse or washing but I'd be interested in finding out if any one has actually seen the difference.
