I live in country that does not have origami paper, and I'm not ready fore buying it on line outside of the country because origami is my new found hobby. I love colorfull designs of japanes paper and I love how much charm it gives to simple paper crane. I decided to find my own whey of creating unique cranes, so I draw with pens on squares of paper and then fold them.

Your cranes are beautiful ..... like all of your work! (I've been a huge admirer of yours since your incredible Twin Doll Challenge entry  )

My daughter made hundreds of cranes with plain non-patterned paper and they looked lovely too...all different colours. So if you get sick of colouring in, you can always mix in a few solid colour ones!

Wow!  Look at you!  Those are beautiful!   I'm kind of addicted to paper... if you ever need me to do some comparison shopping for you, let me know--maybe it would be cheaper for me to purchase the paper and mail it to you instead of ordering online?  You never know.  I just need an excuse to buy more paper!  kidding...

Very cool cranes!

I made 1,000 cranes for my wedding last year (god, that took forever), but instead of origami paper I just bought rolls of patterned wrapping paper and cut it up with my paper cutter to 4x4 squares.  The wrapping paper is basically the same weight and feel of origami paper, only you can buy much more of it at a time.  But you also have to cut it yourself.  Buy a paper-cutter and you'll be in business.

I agree that the cranes are awesome and so time consuming. For Valentine's Day one year, I wrote a bunch of haiku on the inside of cranes and gave them to my husband to unfold... he loved it!

Also, the clip in your sig is pretty dang hypnotic, so I did a Google search for "girl spinning leek." There's even a Wikipedia entry for that loop, available here.

I'm a huge fan of origami, and I like being able to buy it here, but, as another poster said, wrapping paper is just as good
Sometimes I think wrapping paper might be better sometimes, there's been more and more fantastic wrapping paper in shops recently that i've been itching to buy
