Finally!!! A Bullion Knot Tutorial!!!

http://www.needlenthread.com/2007/04/video-tutorial-for-bullion-knots.html

A lot of people asked for this one, so I hope you all find it useful! I'm in the process of editing a tutorial for a bullion rose bud (the same one pictured on the video tutorial for the bullion stitch)... so hopefully, that will follow shortly!

And I've added Palestrina Stitch as well - it's a knotted line stitch, great for heavy outlines or bumpy fillings!

Enjoy!

Bullion Rose Bud Tutorial!! I've finally managed to get this lengthy tutorial put together for those of you interested in learning how to make perfect rose buds using the bullion stitch. The tutorial is about 13 minutes long, and it covers every step of making a bullion rose bud. It also covers beginning and ending your threads without knots when making little isolated flowers and such.

I hope you like it!

If you've never embroidered, I'd say start with the really basic stitches: whipped running stitch, backstitch, stem stitch, chain stitch, daisy stitch....

All the tutorials are pretty much for "beginner" stitches, except perhaps for the bullion stitch, and the satin stitch takes practice.

Good luck!

Howdy, folks! It's been ages since I've squizzed through Craftster, and now I can't get away! Everyone's making stuff these days, and it's fun to look at it all!

I really appreciate the interest in my embroidery video tutorials. It's encouraging to know that they help a lot of people out there who say, over and over, it's just better than a book.

I've had a chance to add a couple more stitches this week, and I have three more slotted for editing. Lots of people request a video for the long and short stitch, so that's coming up as well. It's taking some major editing, and I'm not so great with the whole camera thing...

So, this week I posted so far the double chain stitch and the cable chain stitch. They're both (you guessed) variations on the chain. The double chain makes a nice decorative band that's great for edges, and the cable chain makes a realistic looking chain with little links between each loop.

If you want to check them out, you'll find them here:

Double Chain: http://www.needlenthread.com/2007/07/embroidery-video-tutorial-double-chain.html

Cable Chain: http://www.needlenthread.com/2007/07/embroidery-video-tutorial-cable-chain.html

Try 'em out, and post your results on Craftster, so we can all be inspired!

Hi, all!

I recently added a new stitch video for Bokhara couching, in case you're looking for a cool way to "fill" a design. Bokhara couching is great for filling leaves, petals, clothes, etc. You can work a pattern with the couching thread, and the whole stitch works up really quickly.

If you're interested, check it out:

http://www.needlenthread.com/2008/01/bokhara-couching-embroidery-video.html

I've been filming quite a few stitches lately - I have about 15 right now that need editing and so forth, so as I get them done, I'll post them!

Happy New Year!
