Seattle beret

I'm out in Seattle visiting my parents for Christmas (I'm from Chicago).  While walking around in the rain, I decided I needed a hat.  My mom brought out her stash and I just started messing around.  I love crocheting hats because it goes so quickly--it's a matter of hours as opposed to a matter of days for knitting.  Anyway, this is what I came up with:

(You never realize how dirty your bathroom mirror is until you start taking pictures with the flash...)

It's incredibly warm because it's so thick.  I alternated popcorn stitch (5 dcs) with one sc, and then every odd-numbered row was just sc all around.  Very easy!  It took over one skein of Wool Ease Chunky, which is why there's a band of light grey.

Seattle's interesting.  Every morning it was gorgeous--clear, blue sky and lots of sun--but by 2pm it's all rain.

Kerry Berry, make sure you try to come back in the summer. A lot of days, it starts off chilly and then by mid-afternoon, it's absolutely fabulous. And not so humid that you can't breath!
