I am participating in a Charity Blitz for 2007 on Crochetville and I thought it would be nice to bring the idea over here to Craftster.  A great Crocheter names JimmieLu started this in the 'Ville and I'm hoping she won't mind that I "borrowed" her idea.   Smiley

I'm sure there is enough interest to Blitz a different charity a month in 2007.

Here's how it Works:

Every month in 2007 those interested in participating will pledge at least one item for the monthly featured charity.  The person responsible for the months charity will provide the specifics on the chairty, what is needed, what the deadline is, etc.  The item(s) will be sent to the person whose charity is chosen for that month.  That person will then take the items (or make sure the items get there) to the charity they have given us to blitz for that month.

If you would like to participate and have a charity in mind for a Blitzing in 2007, please PM me.  I will then edit this list to show the monthly Blitzes.  December 2007 is already taken...you will just blitz a charity of your choice.

Let's get the Love Flowing!!   Grin

I can't crochet, but I can knit and I just got a sewing machine for x-mas!! I would love to participate. i have been meaning to get back into volunteering but I need to do it on my own time so this would suit me quite well. Smiley Great idea. I hope one of the charities ends up being for animals!

Knit, Sew, Crochet....whatever you can do, it's all about the charities.  We can blitz an animal charity for January.  Do you have a charity in mind?  Let me know, we can start crafting and trying to recruit help for January.

I'm surprised there is little interest in this charity effort....so I will fill in the months with Charities that I feel are worthwhile.  If you would like to participate, please do so.  If you need any info, please contact me.  Any questions, please ask.  If you make something, share a picture.  If you have a Charity you would like us to blitz with you, please let me know and I will add.  Thanks!

I'm so happy to see Friends of Pine Ridge on the list, I squealed lol It's my person favorite. I'll be glad to join in the awesomeness.

However, Artists Helping Children is currently down and not accepting donations. A new bill passed concerning charities caught them up in a technicality.

I see some months are blank, might I suggest:

Make a Child Smile- make cards for terminally ill kids
http://www.makeachildsmile.org/

Online Angels- bunch of different stuff! Quilt squares, cards, teddy bears, etc.

What a fabulous idea!

My local Oxfam shop is providing patterns for people to knit things and then donate to them, but I'm not sure whether this is an international thing.  Hmm, I don't know if I have time to participate in this (exams!) but I'll do what I can and I'll come back if I have any useful ideas.

Sounds good to me - I looked at the Feb website but didn't see any specific projects - what kinds of things are we looking at?

Hi selkie! For Stand Up for Kids we all can agree on an area to support (on the home page of Stand Up, on the right hand side, there is a USA MAP...click on an area of the map, then over on the right hand side again, click on Wish List.  These are things needed by the Street Team to hand out the the Homeless Kids)

Everyone take a look and we can decide which area of the USA that has a Stand Up for Kids Organization to support.  I am willing to go with the majority.  It's all about helping these Street Kids.
