hmm does anyone happen to know any crafty places near Stillwater? Aah, I used to live there before i moved, 2wo years ago, and we go back pretty much every winter and summer, and sometimes spring break as well, but every time I'm there it's like...no crafting for the entire stay because i really dont have many materials with me...Any suggestions?

There's a bunch of fun crafty places in Stillwater, however, like the rest of the town, you pay a *little* bit more there than you would anywhere else.

Bead Alley in the Brick Alley (very fun bead store, lots of good loose bead choices, crystal, and seed beads)

Rose Mille on Main Street (a newer store with shabby chic in the front and AMAZING millinery supplies and habadashery in the back. vintage and new ribbons, trimmings, beads, buttons, and unusual class offerings)

There's also a paper store in Brick Alley but when I was last there, it was sort of still new and she was still getting her stock in.  And all the antique stores Stillwater is known for have fun things that can be recycled or reused.  In the upstairs of the Staples Mill, I found some VERY cool old needle cases and needles, as well as vintage patterns, doilies, all sorts of good stuff.  You have to wade thru all the other weird stuff to find the treasures, but they are there!

And of course a few miles away are Maplewood, Woodbury, and White Bear Lake, all chock full of quilting stores, craft stores, and bead stores.

If you like cool thrift stores you have to check out Arc's Value Village.  Great retro clothes, handbags, shoes as well as jewelry and household stuff!!  There are 3 stores in the Twin Cities but the Richfield store is the best!
