This is an X-mas gift for my Dad, which I wrapped with the following: A page from a real 1920's musical score to the Pirates of Penzance. While still flat, I stamped an antique car, key, pocket watch, victrola, and typewriter key letters/numbers in red chalk ink. Then I aged a tag with chalks and stamped on it. Wrapped the gift in the paper, tied it with old rope, and voila- something pretty yey not frou-frou. What do yall think?

Thanks for looking!

I will be out of state until February. I may be able to check emails periodically so if you need me, it would be more timely to email me. Thanks. ANY OWED SWAP PACKAGES WILL GO OUT BEFORE I LEAVE.

I have to admit, I thought WOW!  That looks cool!
UNTIL I saw the part about the actual sheet music....
Then I gasped, LOUDLY, and said "Oh no, she didn't!!!!"
It's not a photocopy???
Please tell me you have more of the score from Penzance....

On a side note, it looks lovely, but it must be MOST EXPENSIVE wrapping paper...

haha! Never fear, It's not actually worth anything. It's not like an original score, it was mass-produced. I took it from a songbook of the entire score of the Pirates of Penzance- actually I think it may be from the 30's instead- I got the songbook for 3 dollars at a junk shop. I had to be extremely careful with it because it is falling apart and very brittle, has places where mice chewed it... So don't worry- I havn't desecrated a true musical relic. I'd never do that. So it is an antique- but not a historically important one. Just a mass produced music book, looks to be something that may have been used in schools for doing musicals.
When I said "real" I meant that it's a real antique piece of sheet music.
You can breathe now, hehe.

Okay, okay.  I guess if it was already damaged that makes it a bit more bearable.  I'm just quite a fan of that musical (I've actually been in it!) and thought how cool it would be to have those framed as gifts for other Penzance lovers.  The wrapping DOES look nice though  Smiley

What a great idea! I love the tag. And I think it's perfect for a gift for a man, definitely not frou-frou. Smiley

Project Vox -  What will you say?

I, Shout, along with fellow artist, Howl, make 5x4" cardstock booklets with our artwork on them, and leave them in random places for people to find.  The goal: to inspire and provoke thought

Have you seen any of our cards?
