this is real long so if you don't wanna read it all at least scroll through the pretty pictures.
okay well i've been away for a while cause i have been really busy lately.
i have been working on 3 projects at once for the last month and a half or so.
plus i did a few others before that. all of these things have been custom jobs.
all of a sudden lately everyone i know wants me to make them something.
i will post pics of all my new projects but i just wanted to do this one first cause it is the one i am most proud of!
i made it for my friend eric the hippie.
and being a hippie he travels and promises to take pictures of little eric across the country.
this is the most detailed art project i think i have ever done except for mural painting.
eric spoiled it for this picture though because he is always dressed as the doll is and then on this day he is dressed different lol. later i will get the cool comparison pic and post it here.
it has so many details it almost drove me mad. i made everything but the greatful dead patch, baby socks and baby shoes that i painted brown. oh and the necklace my friend natalie made :-)
his hat he always wears has pilots wings (which is supposed to be some big hippie thing) with a grateful dead logo over it. i ordered a patch and decided to make the wings white instead. i made the hat like a real one, it has thin cardboard in the brim even and has a lil button wrapped in fabric on the top of it .
his beard is faux fur and his hair is chenille yarn i knotted and hand threaded one at a time..
he has my usual button nipples and a button i've been savin to use as a belly button.
the chest/belly hair is pearl cotton knotted and threaded one at a time too.
oh and blue boxers.
some one else told me ratdog was his favorite band , that he traveled all over the country to see them so i surprised him with the shirt. i made it from my girlfriend's old t shirt and i printed out the logo on transfer paper ( which just amazed people lol)
his pants were a pain but they look awesome. the red patches are from a pair of my own pants that were retiring due to their wanting to turn everything red in the wash and they are fallin apart lol. i even rolled one pant leg up and sagged the pants like he wears em.
he always has his back pack with him so i made to make it too. it has a zipper and a little pocket in the front.
he also has secret pocket inside his back
i wanted to sign it and i had been thinking of starting to sew skulls on my stuff kinda as my logo.it was cut from skull fabric. i think i will continue to do this too.
he was super excited about it and kept asking me when it would be done. i ended up telling him $200-$250. i don't know how many hours i have in it cause i worked on it at home and work and was working on 2 other things too so it was just when i had time. but i mean it has tiny patchwork pants !!! lol
