And now I know what to do with the rest of the sweater that I hacked the sleeves off for mittens, and will make the cowl neck into a hat...

When all of this is done, I will have an entire grey freakin' outfit... hat, mittens, and vest; not to mention that the only jacket I have is the exact shade of grey felted wool...

This will be neat to try.

Good job!

That really is very cute, and doesn't look like a recon at all.
What do you mean when you say you felted it in the washing machine? How is this done?

the sweater was 100% wool, and when wool things are put in hot water and agitated (as in a washing machine), they felt -- which means the fibers shrink and become tighter.  that's why i didn't have to hem any edges; once knit wool is felted, it won't fray.

It's very cute and flattering on you. And it can't get much easier than felting and making three cuts. Smiley

Heard about the guy who fell off a skyscraper? On his way down past each floor, he kept saying to reassure himself: So far so good... so far so good... so far so good. How you fall doesn't matter. It's how you land!
