I am doing a portrait of marilyn monroe out of perler beads for my sister for x-mas and this is the just about finished version. I still have to piece it together properly and frame it but I have everything coming for the frame so it should be done pretty quick and I will post a finished product as soon as I am done.

finished product finally!!!

Thanks I'm glad you guys like it I used those little plastic beads (called 'perler beads') that you put on peg boards cand then melt together with and iron. now I just have to mount them so that everything is all pieced together. As for size it is pretty big I think it is roughly 19"x26'.

I have to admit I kinda cheated I went and downloaded the sample version of PCStitch and then cause you aren't allowed to save the patterns I just Printscreened it (there is a key that says 'PrtScn' in the top left hand corner of my keyboard and I just hit that) then I went into photoshop and opened a new file then I just pasted it in the new file. Then once I had it in photoshop I gridded it off so that I knew how many beads where to one pegboard my pegboards were 29 beads x 29 beads and I got 4 that linked together so that the image didn't look so pieced together. I hope that helps you guys if there is anything unclear just let me know and I will try to clarify it for you.

This would be so cool to do as a project, it is a project for Christmas or anything else that I have not heard of before.  I think it would be fun, but time consuming, I want to try it now, because it looks so neat, but I would not know what photo to do.  Then, I can hang it up in the room and enjoy it, lol.  Hope you do not mind if I do something like this, not using the picture or nothing, but I think it is so cool.  But, I have to think about it first, because I do not know if I have time.

Thanks so much for all your wonderful comments and don't worry as soon as I have a pic of the finished product I will for sure post it.
SoonFamo-Artiste I would not mind at all if you did a perler project first of all I got the idea off of craftster to start with and second of all I love to see others work. It does take a bit of time so it is probably good that you put a bit of thought into what you want to do before you tackle it.

Oh my gosh, are you serious? That is so awesome. You are a perler bead artist!
I can only imagine what a pain it was so place all those beads, they are so tiny.

Very nice drawing toomuchrock I'm sure your mom will love it!! Thanks soo much catsprefermarlie!! I don't know if I can call myself a perler artist I just have a bit of patients and call follow a pattern but thanks for the compliment just the same. It was a bit time consuming but as long as my sister likes it then it is all worth while. It's so funny I am always soo nervous when I give my crafts for x-mas presents I'm just scared that they won't like them and it's definately not something that can just be returned and exchanged. But as soon as I finish framing it and give it to her I will let you guys know how it went and I will post the final product.

That is amazing, heart-on - your sister is going to fall out of her chair when she opens that!  Seriously, it's very awesome and the professional framing will just make it even more spectacular.
