Thanks everyone!  I neglected to say that I filled in some of the white space on the mermaid with fabric crayon.  At first I was certain that I had ruined it, but then I decided it didn't matter because it is just a kid's picture anyway. 

Well once I heat set the fabric crayon with my iron, all was well and I think it turned out great.  I do wish the fabric crayons I used had a flesh tone choice.
