I'm so glad you like it, Taloola! I was worried I went overboard with the embellishing, so I'm glad you like, um... embellishment.  Grin

It did take some photos and scans, but everyone should also post their cards, as my scans don't do them justice. I put all of the cards in plastic sleeves, so that takes away from the beauty in some cases.

It was very difficult to get a picture of the entire "book" -- the format was very simple... it was just accordion folded... but it was tough to get the full effect with photos.

This pic gives you and idea of how all of the pages are folded into that metal folder. You can see the first two (or four) "pages" unfolded here (you can see air and fire -- earth and water are tucked underneath, inside the holder):

Getting a shot of the whole thing was a nightmare, but in this picture, I put the metal holder on the floor (the final page of the book is glued down in it) and held up all of the pages with one hand. It's a crappy blurry shot, but I think it gives a better idea of how it all "works":

Here are scans of each of the pages... I'll leave it to Taloola to identify which cards are from which person [edit: which she thoughtfully did while I was writing this super-long post!]:

Air:

Fire:

Earth:

Water:

And finally (if you aren't sick of me already), I put those magnets inside the front cover so that taloola can display whatever card strikes her fancy that day (the front cover can stay open on its own). Here is gingerquilts' lovely card as the Display Model:

aroze: i love your take on earth as well! i love the vintagy feel of it!

I should let amaryllisroze speak for herself, I know, but this was one of my favorite cards, so I just have to comment... this card is not just "earth," my friend (even though I put it on the "earth" page) -- look closely... she used all of the elements!

Earth (shovel), water (watering can), wind (fan), and fire (matches).

Isn't that clever?!

That Book is amazing!

I'll give credit where credit is due...my husband helped me with the idea for the card, on this one. I was stuck as stuck could be and he said "Hey, why not use some kind of common item to symbolize each element?"...I married a genius, I tell ya!

Wow, kaesea.  That's really great.  I really love the hinged bits you used to hold the cards in place.  Fantastic work.
