All right! Is everyone ready? (That's rhetorical -- I know you are!)

Here's my tomato-y book (love the ribbons along the side!):

One of my favorite parts of the book is this fabulous little tomato bead tied to one of the ribbons... I couldn't get a great photo of it, but here it is:

Here's a shot of the first page of the book (with the card from Stifflersmom on the right):

In the lower left-hand corner of the page, you'll note this informative description of Tomato Aspic (mmmmmmm...):

On subsequent pages thoughout the book, the steps for making tomato aspic have been affixed opposite each ATC. You know, so I can browse through my ATCs while I make my aspic... Wink :

I wish I could credit this card, but there's no name on the back! By process of elimination, I think it's by Bobolink -- claim it if it's yours, sister! (Isn't it juicy looking?   Smiley)

I just read rackycoo's suggestion that we post a group shot of the cards  -- I had taken photos of each page of the book, so I just copied and pasted them together into a couple of files (which is why they look so weird here). Here are the rest of my cards...

Top row, left to right:
Phizzychick -- Love the pincushion and scrabble tiles here -- two of my favorite things!
taloola -- It says, "2 pounds of tomatoes, peeled, seeded, and diced." and "Serves 4-6." Where did you get that graphic? It's great!
rackycoo -- Lovely work, as always. It says, "Your health is important. Eat your vegetables!" (Did my mom call you, rackycoo?)

Second row, left to right:
amaryllisroze -- Is it really a seedpack, or did you make it to look like one? Also, how did you make that tomato shiny?
OriginalYouth -- That tomato seems to be made of... polymer clay (?) It's very cool! The background is also sewn, which is super nifty.
foufigirl -- That chick cracks me up!

And here's the second set:

Top row, left to right:
gingerquilts -- This photo doesn't do this card justice! It's fabric and it looks just like a tomato pincushion - the strawberry you see is actually hanging off of the card, just like a real pincushion. Also, it's got real pins in it! It's great! (Unfortunately, the black background blended with the black page...)
qazicat -- The text says: "Tomatoes were once called the apple of love by the french because it was believed that they had aphrodisiac qualities." It's obviously working for these two!

Second row, left to right:
goatgoddess -- This dude has googly eyes - he's hilarious!
Bigmouth -- The last two pics are the front and back of this card. Love that take on the old phrase. It's made of felt and sewn around the edges. The tomatoes are ironed on (right?)

Whew!

In addition to the book, she sent me these sweet-ass vintage flash cards:

Here's a shot of the back of one. You know, in case you need a refresher that this is: "TOMATO, WHOLE." Where on earth did you find these, Stifflersmom?

AND (yes, there's more) she made me this card holder from an old toothpick holder that she had that looks like a tomato on its side:

Hee hee!

This is all going to go perfectly in my tomato kitchen... I really need to post photos of that sometime!

Thank you, Stifflersmom! This was great!! And thanks so much to everyone for all of these cards -- they're beautiful and funny and great and... just perfect! Please, please, please post photos/scans of your cards if you have them -- my pics do not do these cards any justice at all.

Whew! I can't believe we're finally wrapping up this swap!
Now I just have to wait on pins and needles for taloola's book to reach her...

Hooray, what a tomato-y joyful book.  Great job, Stifflersmom.  And Kaesea, PLEASE don't make that aspic.  please.

My card is polymer clay, and the background is all varieties of tomatoes written out...'big boy' is prominent though, and crazy stitched.  Glad you liked it!

WOW! That's is an awesome package! And what is there not to love about tomato aspic?

To answer your question...its not a real seed pack, but I'm glad you thought so. I got into a heated debate about what I should have done to it so it would look like one (in his opinion, anyway).

I used "Glossy Accents" on the tomato to make it shiny and give it a bit of depth. I'm using that stuff a lot lately. Its kind of fun.

Amazing stuff guys!!
I really wanted to attempt an accordian book for mine- but decided I didn't have the skill level. Amazing work racky- and stiffy!
Kaesea that is my card so sorry!! I kept taking my cards, putting them in the envelopes- realizing I forgot to sign the back and having to take them out to do it. I thought I had caught them all, but I must have missed that one. I'll send you a label for you to paste to the back- to make it an official ATC!

Also I've actually made tomato aspic ... ducks!
I make it for Christmas sometimes, with shrimp and cut celery in it. It's really festive and actually quite yummy and looks pretty cute on a a Christmas dinner table. Ok now you all think I'm a crazy freak from the 50's....
