It'll smooth out eventually.  I planned it with the ruffleyness so it wasn't so flat on my head.  Those flat to the head hats are so unflattering to me.  I can't wear that flapper hat I designed, it makes me look so terrible, lol.  Anyway, I say keep going and I'm pretty sure it'll all come out right in the end.  Hope you can post a pic when you finish.

btw, what color are you using?  I think the gray ended up making it look more like a mouse, but my husband says i'm just being picky.   Smiley

Way to go, BeppyCat! You must be as proud as a mama with a newborn. Keep those designs coming!

Beppycat-I'm using red and blue. mostly because the only other colors i have are green, white, verigated stuff (what cat has a verigated head) and some blue eyelash.
red & blue is different, but i think i'll like it.  Smiley

I think that sounds really cute.  I don't think it has to be realistic to be cute at all.  The only reason I used gray is because I wanted to make it look like my kitty, Smudge:

As for a cat with a varigated head, maybe you could say you're calico, like my kitty Pickles:

And now, just because I try not to play favorites, (though Smudgie is my favorite, lol) Here's my kitty Columbo:

Anyway, thanks for sitting through the cat show.  I hope your hat turns out well.  I get sort of nervous when people are making things from the patterns I've written because I worry that somehow it won't work for them like it did for me.  One thing I will say is that you'll probably want to try it on as you go, and if you like the length, skip right down to the ribbing rows.  It seems like I might like hats that are longer than most people want them, but that's one thing that's easily adjustable.

sorry to keep buggy you beppycat- i'm a needy crocheter. Wink what size hook did you use? you think an i hook would work? my hat is not really lookin like a hat that would fit my head. i'm on row um 15 and its not looking like a hat yet. well, um the problem could also be that i'm extremely impatient. all i really need to know is hook size. sorry for rambling Grin
