I'm in costume shop at my school.  For a play about Ohio, we each got one-fifth of the state to represent the five stories they were telling.

I did a Native American block.  It's a coyote with wings.  The sun took nearly the whole semester to do.

They also needed a second one, but I didn't have time to do such a complicated sun.  But it still turned out well.

Edited to add: Please ignore the odd yellow thread lying across the block....

"just keep crafting, just keep crafting"

Sorry I've been gone so long. Am trying to get back on the boards. Body's thrown me for a few loops these past months and am still learning to adjust. Thanks for your patience.

Your first sun is amazing--I know that is a difficult pattern to do with all of the curves!!

Both of them are very very lovely indeed--you should be very proud for all of your hard work!!

Are the blocks quilted?--it is hard to tell from the photos

Thank you. Cheesy

The first one was machine quilted outlining the animal, sun, bear-paws, and binding.  The second was only quilted around the binding.  I didn't have time, as I threw it together this past weekend  Wink

For the sun on the first one, the points are paper-foundation-pieced.  I think my pattern for the swirls in the middle row was off, as I had to take in a tiny bit off all the pieces for several hours, adjusting it before it would go somewhat flat.  Then, after I sewed it to the points, the sun wouldn't flatten!  It was carefully gathered to be sewn  to the background.  I am quite proud of that sun   Grin

GREAT work, both versions are lovely. Wonderful colours-and that original sun is a fabulous piece of work.
