hey everyone! Like many of you, i am making a couple of hot/cold rice satchels for christmas presents. However, i cant finish them because i dont have anything to scent them with. I dont want to use lavendar because... well, i just dont like it. What are my other options (not just scents, but products) and where might i find them? Thanks so much!

*edit* oh yea. so i was gunna make my little stepbrothers some pajama pants but it appears i underestimated them and got too little fabric. i think i got... 2? one and a half?... yards of each oh these. what can i make them instead?

You could use dried herbs like rosemary, dried rosebuds and pine needles.

Here are some more options at this website:

You know, I've never scented my rice bags. They small like macaroni (which, of course, is weird, because they're filled with rice. Anyways...)

I don't know if they smell very strong, but a good thing to put inside rice bags is hops, because they act as a mild sedative/relaxant.

I would LOVE a lemon verbena rice bag...that stuff smells amazing! You could put some verbena and some citrus zest, and maybe a little bit of crushed up cinnamon stick into a bag, and that would be delicious!

You could use any of the essential oil drops... they come in all sorts of flavours (I actually used lavender last time, but you don't have to Wink ), and you can get them lots of different places... my dollar store actually sells the cheap ones!

I am going to use mint and chamomile from herbal tea bags in my rice bags.

As for the fabric, I would make pajama shorts, like flannel boxers.  You can use the pattern you already have for the pajama pants.

or  an over night  bag.....   how  old  is he??

the  bags  could  very nicely  go  unscented.. I used  parsleya dn italian  spices  in one  once... weird  but  she  loved  it....     you could  use  any  dried   popurriii   jsut  break it  down  really well.

Is there enough to make them each a small-ish bean-bag chair?  I think you get the bean-bag filling at most craft stores (or get feed corn, or else packing peanuts--should be cheap).  Or get some upholstery foam and make them floor cushions.

If you want to do pajama-related stuff, I second flannel shorts, or knee-length pajama pants.
