These are based on the Norwegian Stockings found in Nancy Bush's Folk Socks.  I started knitting the first one and even turned the heel, but I ended up hating it because it had gaping holes.  So I ripped back to just above the ankle, increased some for a flare and knit until they were the right length.
I am IN LOVE with these.  I can't wait to wear them out somewhere.

Yeah, I had fun taking these photos.

A little closer up.
The "kicky" photos are closer to the actual colors.

I used Knitpicks Palette in ash, mint, and sky and US 3s aka glorified toothpicks.

Those are BEAUTIFUL.  I am super jealous and now have to find my copy of the Folk Socks book and make the socks (not sure I can get away with legwarmers).

Amazing! I love the colors you chose and your creativeness to make a sock pattern into legwarmers. And great job with the fair-isle (or technically, I guess, norwegian knitting isn't fair-isle...)- your stitches look so even and mistake-free.
