Please PM either me or miss mermaid strikes back if there are any problems, or, god forbid, we've forgotten to assign you a partner.

I've been thinking about trying to make a journal too.

If anyone has any good tips, or knows a link to some easy tutorials please do share.  Smiley

my own secret for journal making...

when i do signatures to glue together, i sew them on my sewing machine with a size 16 needle, the heavy weight one. then i clip them all together with those binder clips, and hot glue them together at the stitching, but im sure you could figure out a way to do them with the coptic style binding after sewing them on a machine. i also just use plain 20 pound printer paper...

any questions on this, feel free to ask, when my camera is back up i may make you guys a tutorial!

A few tips for making the pages and the covers...

Invest in a paper trimmer.  Nothing fancy, just one of the ones that run about $10.  It makes journalmaking so much more fun, because sitting around with an x-acto knife and a pad of paper is so tedious.

I use 9*12 sketchbooks, the tape-bound Canson drawing pads that you find at Michaels for $2 each.  I cut the heavy back cover in half so that I have 2 6*9 pieces, and then trim an inch off of one long side and one short side of the pad of paper (2 sheets at a time), so I have 30 8*11 sheets.  You can just line it up with the ruler marked on the paper trimmer.

It's also so much easier to make a jig from a piece of paper so that you know where to punch the holes (I have mine saved as a pdf somewhere on my computer, so that if I lose or rip mine, I can just print out a new one).  Just winging it with a ruler makes it easier to mess up.

Already finished the big project (well, I need to add one little thing, but that's it).  Unusually quick for procrastinating me!  Though, now, knowing me, I'll relax and say to myself, "Well, that's the major thing done, I don't have to get the other smaller things done yet," all the way until the 15th or something like that.  Wink
