I should have known trying to knit up a pattern from 'Simply Knitting' was asking for trouble!! I don't think they have any credible pattern writers working for them.... or at the very least they must not test-knit their patterns before printing- I've already had to add entire cable repeats to the jumper pattern I'm working on to make the garment match the FO shown in the picture.  Uugh... forgive my mini-rant, I'm just feeling tetchy right now because I can't figure this out myself! But I'm never buying these mags again.

Here's what is written in the pattern, exactly as it is written. My problem is, I'm not sure if they're asking for short rows or what?! Anyone's help on this matter would be warmly received and greatly appreciated Smiley

" Shape as follows: Next row, work 7 sts and turn work. Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 4 rows whilst continuing to dec at raglan seam as for Back (piece of jumper). Cast off final st.

Rejoin yarn and cast off centre 48 sts, work to end.

Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 4 rows whilst keeping shaping for raglan seam as for Back. Cast off 1 sts. "

That's it! That's all they say.
Thanks for reading my question! Merry Knitmas to you!

It sounds like you're finishing up one shoulder/neck area, then binding off for the neck opening, then finishing up the second shoulder.  It seems like you could put the other stitches on waste yarn while you work the first seven, then pick them up and finish them.

You should decrease as written untill you have one stitch left and bind that off.  Then you bind off the 48 stitches next to that little triangle you just worked, then work the triangle again in reverse so it mirrors the first one you did.

Hope that helps!
