I made a couple of these this weekend! I'm totally lovin' it! I read through a lot of the posts here first and got some really great advice about adjusting the pattern, so thank you all for that. I ended up CO 72 with a bulky weight Sensations Rainbow Classic on us size 8 needles.

the colors are a bit washed out by the flash in this one...

this one's a little truer to color:

For the record (I didn't read the whole thread!) but for wool ease, the best number of stitches to cast on for an adult head are 44!  I tried like, 10 different sizes (starting out with 120 EEK Shocked!)

I finished my first Calorimetry in February.  I love it tons, but I'll only cast on 100 next time.  This on is done with 120 stitches on US7 needles with worsted acrylic yarn.

I would love to have one in every color, but with the looming possibility of moving to from the east coast to L.A., I'm not very motivated to start right away. ;-)

Hi I'm new to knitting and I was hopeing that some one could help me.  Smiley

I know that if i make one at 120 stiches it will be to big for me. How do i figure the formula for making one smaller. How do you space the stiches out so that it comes out right. I hope i don't sound to dumb lol

I see how people have made them useing differeant #'s just don't know how to space the stiches right. Thankyou so much if you can help me.

SouthernJudy-you just have to pick an even number because it's a 2x2 rib. The pattern works itself out

Thankyou, I thought there was something special you have to do to get it to work out evenly. So I just pick out and even # and do the repeats and wala!!! Cool beans!!! Thanks so much.

Wellllll.... it should be an even number divisable by 4. So - 88, 92, 96, 100 - somewhere in that range.
