All of these Cals are so lovely!  I love the one with the buttons sewn all the way across.  Very unique.   Smiley  These are addictive LOL

Hi all. I'm a newbie to Craftster and also this is my first knitalong. I had a friend who wanted a hat with flaps but we couldn't find a pattern that we liked. So I tried this and she loved it. Now I'm making one for myself.

I used 80 st on sz 8's and it's Noro Kureyon #139. And since I'm new, I can't post pictures but you can check it out on my website if you click here.

Welcome to Craftster, Mezzaluna!  Be forewarned - this site is both inspiring and addictive LOL  My poor husband probably curses the day I stumbled upon this website and decided I must delve into many different areas of crafting because I "saw something awesome on Craftster".   Tongue

Your friend's Cal that you made is beautiful.  I like the Noro Kureyon.  It striped beautifully.  And just know that you can't make just one for yourself.  It's like a trap.  You end up knitting one for every occasion, to match every outfit you own.   Cheesy

This is my first time posting in this section! I mostly hang out at Clothing but I've recently become addicted to knitting. (I've known how for a long time but only this past month really gotten the hang of how it works.) I have long hair (down to my butt) that I wear up almost constantly, especially in winter when there's things like zippers and Velcro on coats to get caught on, so this project was perfect!

I have no idea what yarn I used--my mom gave it to me last year after she'd used a little of it. I can tell you it was a pain in the butt to work with, though--it's made of lots of little loopy bits, which my needles kept getting caught on. Those loopy bits make the holes and the fact that I messed up the ribbing a lot less obvious, though. Plus, it's so pretty it's way worth it. I cast on 80 stitches and it's still kind of long, because I have a tiny head, but I compensated for that with button placement. I have no idea how many repeats of row 5 I did--just enough until it looked like half the width I wanted, and it worked out great.

So, without further ado, here's the pictures!

I don't think you can see the button, but it's a little pink strawberry.

I think for my next one (I have the yarn out already) I'll cast on 72 stitches and use one of the purple dragonfly buttons I bought today at JoAnn...

Stories last longer: but only by becoming only stories.

I've decided that these Calo's are like prostitution  Wink

you start off doing it because it seemed like a good idea
you start doing it for a few "friends"
you find once you start you can't stop

 Wink Wink Wink Wink Wink

I LOVE the bobbly one you made Clare-Dragonfly  Grin
and the button trimmed one a few pages back is ubercute
Seika, those colours look FANTASTIC on you

i was thinking that i need some face adornment to wear it... like glasses or bangs cuz without it, i just look too ugly.  ( just me, not anyone else.)  also i don't know how else to wear it without it looking like a snowbunny head gear.

Perhaps if i added more repeats...i didn't do that many last time.   everyone's getting so creative with their calorimetry.  it's great!
