I should measure my head size, because I found the 80 stitch model too small (although I think it will be okay for my 12 year old niece).  96 seems to be the magic number for me.

Has anyone by any chance adapted this for a loom?

i made yet another one (now up to 4!!!)

this time i used some scrap Moda Dea Tweedle Dee in Blue Heather that i had leftover from another project. it used up all my scrap, so i had no scrap from the scrap. hehe

b/c tweedle dee is a bulky yarn, i modified by using US size 10.5 needles and CO 90 sts and rep row 5, 9x. it came out perfect! and the yarn is so soft! it doesn't itch at all (a must for my skin) and i wore it this morning in the below freezing temps, and it kept my head nice and cozy. actually, i never took it off once i got to my office  Grin

now for pics

the button i used it a plastic one i found in my button stash. i think it looks great with the tweed b/c it has a leather-wrapped effect.

and i think that the tweed and color change in the yarn give the headband a nice look.

oh and i re-felted my original calorimetry that was made with patons sws and now it's a bit too small. it still fits my head, but won't cover my ears. so it's going to be an early spring/late fall piece and this one is going to be my "dead of winter" piece.
and i made another out of marino/alpaca/silk blend yarn and it's not warm at all! i wore it last night in sub-freezing temps and my head froze!

That's really weird -- shouldn't that be a really nice cozy yarn to have used?

i'm thinking it's because i used needles that were too big for the yarn, so it was really meshy when it was stretched over my head... i could feel the cold air seeping through. and i thought it's alpaca! it's gotta be warm! i think i'll frog it and try again once i get a set of size 6s. (i'm saving up for the knit picks options kit)

So, I finally got off my bum after seeing all of your lovely posts and made my own.  However, like the stubborn/lazy teen I am, decided not to change any of the pattern, and cast on.

Pardon my face in the first picture, I was tiiiired...I hate test/exams Angry

Stupid nerdy smile...aka front

Yucky frizzy hair...aka side

Back...I used two buttons
