Since Jenny said that she keeps her patterns simple so that users have plenty of room to embellish away, I thought I'd share the onesies I just did for the December birthday swap:

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=138116.0

I used the sweets patterns from the new book and then went bead crazy ... little pearl marshmallows on the cake, green and silver jimmies on the ice cream cone and an entirely encrusted pink sprinkled cupcake.

I know. I took pictures too before I sent out the package and unfortunately they weren't much better. Beadwork is hard to get a good, clear image of ... at least for me.

OMG- that is the cutest!!! How did you go about doing the beadwork? Do you just string the beads onto the floss?  Do you need to use thinner floss or less ends? Please explain- I LOVE it!
Thanks in advance!

Yep, you just pull the floss through the onesie and then thread on a bead before you take the stitch. I didn't have to use thinner floss, and actually I went through them twice with two strands each time -- four total -- so that they were really secure (I don't think you need to worry about a 3-month-old pulling them off, but I wanted to make sure they would survive the washing machine).

The trick is to use a beading needle rather than an embroidery needle. They're longer and thinner so they pass through the beads easily.

The pearls and sprinkles were just randomly placed. On the cupcake, I used a pack of pink beads that had several different sizes/shades of pink and just went to town. It look the longest, but in person it really looks pretty neat ... if I do say so myself.  Smiley

Cool! I will have to try it. Now I just need to find some baby girls to make beaded embroideries for!  (I have two boys- they might get their butt kicked on the playground for beads and embroidery ;>)
