While wandering through the dollar store today to buy Hannukah decorations with a friend, I spotted these cute tropical-themed placemats just begging to be made into something. About two hours (though I was distracted by Harry Potter on tv) later and I had a tote!

^My new tote bag in action. That's a full sized calendar standing up in there. As my half finished mittens were a prop, I think my new bag ought to hold my crocheting for the time being. Of course, when it's not reminding me of warmer weather!

Beautiful job.  How many placemats did you use?  what did you use for the handles? does it have lining?
Thank you for sharing

It was two placemats...When I trimmed the seams after sewing the body, I found that the scraps were long enough to make into handles. No lining. Preeetty basic, but I just wanted a new tote quickly!

Thanks for looking!
