Hi hi hi!

When I saw this tutorial, actually I found the link in Miss Meshell's blog (http://littlemissmeshell.typepad.com/meshells_little_corner_of/), from Allsorts I knew I had to try it Smiley

http://allsorts.typepad.com/allsorts/2006/11/crisscross_coas.html

They are so easy and fun to make, and they make a great gift for the totally random person on your list!

Anyway I used 4 different fabrics, the 2 obvious ones on top, flannel on the inside because I liked the print and for the absorbency, and muslin on the bottom, I didn't use any interfacing because I didn't have enough for the set and I didn't like how thick it made it, I am weird, lol. I also used pinking shears to trim the edges to neaten it up (in addition to clipping the corners).

On to the pictures! Smiley

Thank you!
You totally could put something in there, in the tute she was talking about how you could actually stick the bottom of a wine glass in there.. but it would be cool to give a set of these with tea bags inside of something like that!

I've checked out  the tutorial and it looks great but I'm a bit confused about how to turn them once you sew all the way around.

Your coasters look great.

Try overlapping the strips of paper like it show in the tute, that might help you visualize it better. Then you will see that you can stick your finger through the opening in the very center and flip the fabric strips over the lining to hide it....

I don't know if that made any sense, but maybe if you just try the tute it will make more sense.

Yay! these look great lama Cheesy That's funny because I was just making another set of them for someone and am having a wee break and I logged onto craftster and here are more, hehe.

I LOVE making these, how easy are they? And no stupid handsewing up  of a little hole like normal ones Tongue and I love, love, love being able to have a secret fabric inside

I'll have to make myself a set methinks. And I love your idea of putting things in them, tea especially, fabulous! Cheesy

Having gone absolutely crazy at the fabric store several months ago... I am the owner of a bazillion (ok not really a bazillion - but dang close!) fabric squares.  Shocked I was going to make several knitting needle holders! Needless to say I have all these squares... and I need to make some Christmas gifts for co-workers... and so I think this is the answer!!!! Hopefully I am not biting off more than I can chew - or sew... or start!!!

Thanks for the post!!! they look great!
