Hi all!  Here's an idea of you have a huge stock of buttons, beads, and miscelleneous trinkets and no tree topper.  It could also be made small and hung on paperclip (make a few) for ornaments.

Recently I bought my very first very own Christmas tree.  It isn't full size.  Only 4.5 feet tall.  But it's big enough for me.  I wanted something special to top it off with and a store-bought ornament didn't seem like the way to go.  So I took inventory of my craft supplies and saw the huge box of beads I've been hoarding for, oh, about ten years now--and decided it was time they saw the light!  So I made this:

This star is easy peasy.  All this really takes is time.  I did it last night while I talked on the phone to a very persistent boy.

I'm sure all you crafty types can figure out just how to make it (basically a carboard star covered in foil then wrapped around and around with beads/wire) but if you'd like some instructions, they're available at my blog, here:

Happy Holidays!

I can tell you, Fall is composed of

1 part dead fish smell
1 part wet leaves
1 part arctic chilled air (not winter chilled variety)
2 parts crunchy walking
a pinch very cold rain
some apples you picked yourself
a few very still moments
a good deal of inner reflection

I must reply again!  I showed this to my hubby and he said, "Who do we have to pay to get one of those!!"  He absolutely loves it! Grin

I love it and I would love to make it (or a melted bead glow in the dark star).  However, DH made a tinfoil star with his grandmother when he was five and we *HAVE* to use his star.  Forever more.  Also his Star Trek ornaments.

sigh.
